Longest cycle path on the sea in Europe for lovers of cycling holidays
Choosing a hotel in Diano Marina or San Bartolomeo al Mare means staying in a hotel near the San Lorenzo cycle path that runs from San Lorenzo a mare to Ospedaletti.
An easy and pleasant tourist route, with the stunning Ligurian panorama: 28 km, almost all of them on cycle paths. The first 4 km are on the main road, connecting Imperia station to the start of the cycle path, but then you become totally immersed in nature (if you want to reach San Lorenzo by car, there is a free and convenient car park near the cemetery).
The San Lorenzo cycle path was built over the old Genoa-Ventimiglia railway line, abandoned since 2001, and travels along most of the Riviera dei Fiori. It has even gained recognition as the longest seashore cycle path in Europe. It takes you through San Lorenzo al Mare, Riva Ligure, Santo Stefano, Arma di Taggia, Sanremo, before ending in Ospedaletti.
Also ideal for families, a pedestrian trail runs along the same route. There are plenty of break areas and panoramic terraces on the coastline where you can stop to take some selfies! Snacking on some Taggiasca olives and a piece of focaccia, we arrive at Ospedaletti, the final destination of the bike ride.
A must-have experience for those on holiday in Liguria.
